Thanksgiving Desserts: The Healthy, The Naughty, and The Sinfully Delicious

Everyone knows that Thanksgiving is really about the desserts right! Now, we all love the turkey and stuffing but the desserts is where it is at. Most of the posts that you are going to see will show you some great Thanksgiving dinner and side dish options. My mind, however, is on the desserts. Whether you are looking to really stick to your diet/ healthy eating plan or have a free for all here are some great options to include in you Thanksgiving feast.

The Healthy

Apple Crisp

This healthy version of an apple crisp sounds super amazing. Liv from came up with this recipe. I love how it has all natural ingredients and does not use any artificial sweeteners! It seems like the perfect way to get the sweetness without all the extra sugars and sketchy ingredients.

Fruit and Yogurt Parfait

You can’t go wrong with a yogurt parfait. Similar to the chocolate mousse below just without the chocolate. I always like to make mine with vanilla greek yogurt, fresh fruit and some oats & honey granola. The yogurt makes it sweet enough while keeping it healthy.

Healthy Chocolate Mousse

Here is a super easy chocolate mousse recipe from Ashy Bines. With only 7 ingredients there is no way you can go wrong. Sticking with using all natural ingredients and garnishing with fresh fruit and greek yogurt this will make you feel like you are getting goodness of a chocolate dessert without all the extra calories.


The Naughty

Pumpkin Pie

Of course it cannot be Thanksgiving with out pumpkin pie right! Now it is not the healthiest dessert but is not the worst either. If you love anything pumpkin spice this will be your go to dessert for sure. Here is Libby’s Famous Pumpkin Pie recipe that is sure to be a favorite for everyone.

Not Yo’ Mama’s Banana Pudding

For the banana lovers in your family this should be your go to dessert recipe! Paula Deen’s Banana Pudding recipe should be a favorite for everyone. Super easy and quick to make the creamy pudding will really make you want to go for seconds. Don’t worry too much because it is not too bad for you and seconds will be a must!

Pumpkin Spice Muffins

If you are looking for a really easy and quick to make dessert recipe look no further than my Pumpkin Spice Muffins. Perfect for  the families that have quite a few kids coming over for dinner. You are able to make them in less than 30 minutes so even if you don’t get a chance to make them until the night before you will have lots of time to worry about other things. With just the right amount of pumpkin spice they will definitely be a crowd favorite.

Oreo Pudding Dessert

This is one of our family favorites. I know a lot of people that make this stuff for family gatherings as well. It is so rich and creamy that it is hard to pass up having seconds. I found the same recipe that my mom uses from Holly to Life as a Lofthouse. One thing that is great about this dessert is you can make it up ahead of time and freeze it. Then take it out the morning of Thanksgiving so it will be thawed by dinner time!

Slow Cooker Brownie Pudding

If you want something that you can throw in a crock pot before dinner and have it ready by the time dinner is done this is perfect. Dorthy from Crazy for Crust came up with this recipe as a different take on a crock pot lava cake. With all desserts that are oh so good but not good for you this one has warm brownies, chocolate pudding, and of course a scoop of ice cream on top.

Reese’s Marshmallow Brownie Bars

If you are look for a different take on the classic brownies these are for you. Not only will you get that chocolate flavor from the brownies but you will also get the peanut butter from the Reese’s. Trish from Mom on Time Out really hit it out of the park with this recipe. Super quick and easy to make. It will definitely be a kid favorite and I doubt most of the adults will be able to resist the peanut buttery goodness either!


We all know that Thanksgiving is all about the food. And dessert is definitely the most important part right!
